Giving Back

How often do you really take some time to give to a good cause? I mean really how many of you can really handle watching sarah macuaclins commercial in the arms of the angel and not feel like you need to donate immediately? So why not do something that takes a little more effort, is more fun and not a financial commitment? Be a dog walker...williamsburg has a few local shelters that are looking for volunteer dog walkers. BARC shelter is one and all you need to do is stop in and volunteer!

Sarah Silverman comes to NYC

Thats one Lucky Dog

Top three reasons to walk instead of hitch a ride

#1- walking is good for you
#2- walking is free
#3- You can avoid being picked up by a crack head named Jim who listens to Karma Chameleon on full blast, takes your last ten dollars to re-up, picks your friend up in jail for being held up for 8 dollars and drops you off on the side of the road because his come down comes on a lot faster than you realized. Trust me, I'm not proud.

Welcome to NY you F%^$ up I'ma shoot you

New Yorkers are known to be pretty pissed off. In 20 minutes alone this morning my parking spot was taken from behind me as I was pulling into it, I got A 115 DOLLAR parking ticket in a spot that no one all day got a ticket in and I actually watched a biker drive up and down West 3rd giving the finger to everyone he saw. So I asked myself, why are New yorkers so pissed off? Is it the bad tipper at the bar who raved about closing his biggest deal of the year and leaving a dollar and change for tip? Is it because the guy at the parking garage charged me for three hours instead of two when I got there a minute after the 3rd hour?Oh, it was probably the bum who saw my car windowed smashed in by a brick and asked for two dollars in exchange for the number to 911(I'm serious). No, I think it was it the gay boy breakup I watched on the subway at nine am my way to work when all I wanted to do was listen to my headphones that didn't work because my dog chewed them. Lesson Learned: DON'T DRIVE IN NY, always have a spare set of headphones, flick off EVERY biker you see, they deserve it they ride around worse than drunk drivers, spit in cheap sales guys drinks, Bums are sales people too- only give them food and try and avoid watching two dudes break up in the A.M its way to early for that much drama. Smile Often- its contagious :)

Baoguette

Probably the best sandwich I have had for lunch in a long time- I ordered the classic "baoguette" It was authentic, the spicy sauce was just right, pork, carrots and pate and crispy white bread..Food is great and there are three locations.

Two Boots Brooklyn

Great concept I would have never thought of. Foods from the two boots of the world(Italy and Louisiana). There is live jazz on the weekends and the place looks like a mardi gras party in Italy. Pizzas are great and soul food is great too. I recommended the Cajun platter and vegetables and the chili. I cant wait to try brunch! There is something for everyone to eat, prices are in reason and really cool atmosphere.

Bondi Road

Australian Bar comes to the Lower East Side...18 bucks for brunch- includes meal, all you can drink screwdrivers, fosters, mimosas, bloodies and greyhounds.Surfing videos are playing in the background, shots are passed around in bulk, I suggest making a reservation for a large party because this place gets packed. SO MUCH FUN, the food is great and the drinks are very generous.

Hanna Food

Rated one of the best delis in NY by L magazine, Hanna food looks like nothing from the outside. You could pass this place by and never know it was worth stopping in. The sandwich choices are CRAZY with names like Cocaine or Drunk Asshole you have to realize these are going to be pretty unique options. Here, check out the menu...

Isn't NY a really competative city for lawyers?

With all due respect, not only was this story absurd, I thought law school was very competitive and only the best of the best succeed. Where did they find these two? I was trying to figure out if this was real NY news or if this was a great episode of Saturday night live.

Event Horizon

New Yorkers kind of have a bad rep of being too self involved always focused on their own agenda. How many new yorkers have taken the time to look around at the city they live in, or all the people around them? How many have actually been inside the Empire State building? Anthony Gormley's experiment "Event Horizon" is intended to help New Yorkers take a look around, notice things around them. 31 Iron 6 ft tall naked male statues are placed all around NYC on sky scrapers to shock the public and give them a reason to look around. (hint: go to madison square park) you'll find like 6! Go explore the great city we live in for a day!

Fette Sau

This is some seriously awesome bbq. Every night the menu changes from different cuts of pork and beef. The atmosphere is as if you are inside a barn, the beer selection is great. The meats are all organic and small farm raised and are so good you don't even need sauce. I'm not exactly sure how to prove to you that you need to eat here, but I promise you'll love it :)

Funny Stuff

Daily Advice: Always check your skirt and make sure its not tucked into your underwear

During my high school awards ceremony, after making the decision to wear my thong underwear with my low cut dress, i decided to take a quick bathroom break. When I arrived back my name was immediately called for my award, I learned a thing or two about double checking your backside to make sure nothings exposed. As my name was called and I proceeded to the stage to get my award, I noticed a thousand faces of fear coming from the crowd. Parents, teachers all watched me as I strutted my stuff, right hand waiving as if I was Queen Elizabeth so proud to receive my award for most contribution to the community. What I didn't notice was the tears in my best friends eye as I held my head high to walk back to my seat. "Your skirt is tucked into your thong", someone whispered.

Lesson learned- always double check, 2000 people didn't come to see your ass cheek, they came to see their children honored

McDonalds

I used to bypass the order and pay window at McDonald's and drive quickly through the pickup for a nice free fun filled lunch break during high school. It was always a thrill when you noticed the Mcdonald's bag had a Big Mac meal vs a Fish a ma jig. Yes Mcdonald's makes a fish-a-ma-jig. I'm pass the Mcdonald's drive and swipe days, but I am kinda in the mood for a double.

P.S Mcdonald's coffee is really really worth it.

Chip Shop

A hidden gem in Brooklyn Heights, The Chip Shop offers all types of fried delights with a british twist. I'm talking about fried cheeseburgers and pizza. Its heaven for a hangover, especially if you enjoy watching soccer. Big time Euro soccer bar and must see spot in the heights. I think there is a Park Slope location as well.

Goodbye Blue Monday

Great hipster style Bushwick coffee shop/bar. Neighborhood bar with great lattes. The atmosphere is filled with antiques, bookshelves and old records. Really good for a drink, doesn't seem like a place to eat but I hear there's great live music.

Atmosphere is the best part. It kind of looks like you fell down Alice's rabbit hole into a world of old books and antiques and art. Cheap Cheap Cheap
